Some History

We have a regular attendance of both adult and junior members, including some junior modern Pentathletes who receive coaching in Epee.

Our coach Janet is qualified to coach in all three weapons, plus the club has three club leaders who are also qualified to teach basic disciplines in foil. All coaching staff have been subject to a mandatory police check as part of our own and the British Fencing Association's Child Protection policy.
The sport of fencing is suitable for the ladies as well.
In May 2000 the club received a lottery grant from "Awards for All" of £4369 enabling us to buy our own club equipment to run a junior course designed to assist their training. The award certificate was presented by Keith Smith, President of the British Fencing Association (BFA), who accepted honorary membership to MAD FC. We have been fortunate to receive further grants, including £270 from Gravesham Council, towards the cost of training and a club trophy, an annual "Staff Community Action Award" of £250 since 2000 from RBS NatWest Group, and more recently a second grant from "Awards for All" of £2897 for more club equipment to train Epee and Sabre.
